I am so sorry to tell you that sadly Billy passed away on Tuesday 20 September 2016.
We have all lost a dear friend and incredible talent.
I first saw the Faith Brother when the supported The Alarm in 1985 and was immediately hooked. I met Billy and Lee when they were playing at a charity event for cable TV that same year called CarolAid. Despite the big names at the event, including Sandy Shaw, Cliff Richard and Chris de Burgh, I was only interested in seeing the Faith Brothers perform.
I met Billy and Lee after the show and Billy promised to leave tickets on the door for me at the Marquee a few days later. I never thought he would remember, but he did, it was one of a few gigs at the Marquee where I saw the Faith Brothers and it always amazed me how half the audience would be onstage singing with the band by the end.
It was not until 2007 when I was recovering from an operation on my shoulder that I Googled the Faith Brothers to see if I could get a copy of the albums, my cassettes being somewhat worn by this time. I found an email for Billy and we got chatting. He asked to meet me in London a few weeks later and asked me to do his PR and press for him.
It was a busy time, he released The Turtledove Boutique and the movie, Tribute This as well as putting on two shows as the Shepherds Bush Empire in 2008 and 2009.
I met many of you while selling copies of the Turtledove Boutique CD's at Shepherds Bush and other gigs including many at the Troubadour.
I still wanted to see the Faith Brothers albums available again though so asked Billy if I could approach Virgin and see if they would do it. They did. Both albums were released on ITunes. I was really pleased for Billy, Lee and Henry to see those albums available again.
Thank you Billy for the music that is the soundtrack to so many lives, we love you. xx
